My kids rep cricket day was a hot one in Melbourne 34 degrees C.

I always have my sketch gear with me at long cricket days. I figure I get to watch but when I’ve had enough I’ll just sketch. These blokes had no idea they featured in my sketchbook ha!

It was 34 degrees in Melbourne and the game was out in a suburb called Werribee. The field was big, flat with no trees of course. Along way from home. Our team got wiped out so not through to the finals.

Aaaaaahhhhh another hot summer of cricket.

Art in the classroom

The boys were great and keen at my art lesson this morning. #artlesson #teaching #tonal #monotone #blockingin #primaryschool @thouartmum #lion #mouse #artgames #arthasnorules

It was so great to finally get into the classroom a couple of weeks ago and give the boys an art experience that hopefully gave them a taste for art.
I tried to show them how easy it can be to create some art just by working tonally and concentrating on shape, blocking in and not thinking I am drawing a Lion, but rather that I am drawing a shape that looks like this or that.  Making large loose shapes let the boys feel emotion in their art too which I could see by their their eagerness to show me their work.
All of the art was wonderful and I even spotted some budding artists in the making.

Camel ride Broome W.A. (Australia) – Pastel

image

I’m blocking in this painting of a little girl on her camel in Western Australia in a place called Broome. I am hoping to capture the rich colours and vastness of this incredible landscape. This is a bigger piece and I will share the finished work with you soon.  If you haven’t travelled to the West put it on your list.
