Commissioned with love - Oil Painting
When I am commissioned to paint for someone I know early on if we are going to be a good fit in working together.
With the excitement that comes with the opportunities of making an artwork that resonates with the buyer in ways that they will only feel, also comes with feelings of responsibility that can leave myself nearly stuck to get over the finish line.
Some tips to make the commission process run smoothly:
You must get enough information from the client as having less will leave the artist frustrated with the potential of overworking the artwork
Communicate early on via email and setup a basic contract information page
You need to provide a timeline, costings and when payment is due using clear and concise communication
There are never enough details to collect when working on a commission and doing this early pre work will enable the artist to paint with love at every opportunity.
I have just completed this oil painting commission of a local family’s dog and I feel that I’ve achieved the feeling of the golden hour glow and spaciousness that I had hoped to achieve.
